Sony HDR-PJ50V

Comparing the Sony HDR-PJ50V to the HDR-PJ10V

At first glance, you really don’t notice much difference between the PJ50 and PJ10 just looking at the two cameras. However, once you dig into the details and differences, you quickly realize the reason why the HDR-PJ50 is the higher priced camera than the PJ10.

Although some of the features are standard on each unit, the major functions are not the same The PJ50 offering full HD 1080/60p and 24-progressive recording while the PJ10 doesn’t provide the 24-progressive recording capability. However, the biggest difference in models, besides the price, is that you get huge storage capacity. The PJ50 is loaded with 220GB of on-board flash memory while the PJ10 has 16 GB. Picture Quality

Sony uses the Exmore R CMOS sensor to capture full 1920 x 1080 60p/24p high definition video along with the standard on-board wide-angle G Lens, Extended Zoom, a 3.0″ Touch Screen LCD, and Optical Image Stabilization. The wide-angle G Lens provides generous 27.4mm focal length in Photo Mode and 29.8mm in Video Mode allowing you to capture more of those large group photos. The 17x Extended Zoom works in conjunction with the 12x Optical zoom to bring all that action in close without losing HD image quality.

Full HD recording is standard with this unit and it records in true 60-progressive and 24-progressive. If you need to capture a still image right from your video, you’ll do it with the 7mp still image feature that is built right in. For recording storage and quick access you don’t get 16GB or 32GB, you get a whopping 220GB and that is expandable. Your built in projection system will turn heads because it’s powerful and mobile.

Additionally, a number of user-friendly shooting controls come in handy. Intelligent Auto combines the most appropriate settings based on your shooting situation, while other features like Golf Shot (slow motion) and Tracking Focus help to make specific effects.
